Consorcio Azucarero de Empresas Industriales (CAEI) announced that it will produce over 140,000 metric tons of sugar, with an estimated milling volume of 1,400,000 metric tons of sugar cane during the 2018-19 sugar harvest.

Alberto Potes, Executive Vice President, indicated that in 10 years CAEI has contributed to the recovery of the Dominican Sugar Industry through the implementation of its Strategic Growth Plan.  “Ten years ago it produced 56,000 tons of sugar and today this company produces three times as much”, explained Potes.

He stated that during the present harvest season, CAEI incorporated new machinery to the agricultural production process, which will allow for the continued implementation of best practices to improve production efficiencies.

The average sugar production yield for the year totals 10.20.
