CAC organizes cleaning operation in Las Salinas de Villa Central
The Central Sugar Consortium (CAC), as part of its commitment to seek permanent solutions to the problems created and exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic in the Dominican Republic, sponsored a cleaning operation in the community of Las Salinas with the objective of helping to prevent the proliferation of COVID-19 and other diseases such as dengue and malaria.
The cleaning and disinfection activities were carried out by a group of one hundred residents of the area, both women and men, in coordination with various neighbourhood councils, while also ensuring social distancing to protect against COVID-19.
The initiative also had the support of the Civil Defense of Barahona, which has carried out disinfection activities for the streets, sidewalks, containers and houses using hydropump machines.
This initiative was coordinated and organized by Esteban Marine, who is responsible for Community Relations at CAC. Mr. Esteban expressed his hope that such actions and measures that ensure that public spaces of the most vulnerable communities remain sanitized and disinfected continue to be organized as they provide health and well-being to their residents.
Participants received masks at the start of the activity, as well as $500 voucher for food.
