CAEI supports the preservation of protected areas
Technical experts from the Biomass Department of the Sugar Consortium of Industrial Companies CAEI met with representatives of the Ministry of the Environment in San Pedro de Macorís to join forces for the preservation of the province's protected areas.
Juan Carlos Piedrahita, Silviculture Coordinator of the company said that CAEI would support the Ministry by providing native seedlings. According to Mr. Piedrahita, CAEI’s Biomass department sows and produces seedlings, which will be donated to the Ministry for the different reforestation programs that it carries out.
At the joint meeting, Ministry of Environment representatives included Juan Bautista Peguero, Provincial Director, as well as other officials. CAEI was represented by Juan Carlos Piedrahita, Coordinator of Forestry of the Department of Biomass and María Angélica Ventura, Administrative Coordinator.
Both teams also exchanged technical and practical knowledge that will allow them to continue preserving the province’s protected areas.
