Central Romana completes induction process for all agricultural workers

Central Romana sugar mill reported that it completed the induction and training process for its agricultural workers prior to the start of its sugar operations for next harvest 2021-2022.

As in every year, the company summoned all personnel who will work in the sugarcane areas to a session to receive guidance about their rights and duties, which was delivered by key labor officials of the Ministry of Labor and the Human Resources Department of the company.

The induction sessions lasted four days and were held in community centers located in the bateyes of the company’s agricultural divisions.  They included educational sessions on occupational safety and hygiene, eradication of child labor, human rights, equal opportunities and non-discrimination, among other issues, prior to the start of the sugarcane cutting season.

Around two thousand people performing jobs in the sugarcane areas were registered for the sessions.  

“It has always been in the best interest of Central Romana that its agricultural workforce is well informed about the working conditions, the benefits guaranteed to them as collaborators, and that they understand the philosophy of good corporate governance practices towards the rights of the employees and zero tolerance for child labor,” highlighted Eladio Uribe, General Director of Human Resources at Central Romana.

The company also recognized the effort made by the staff of the Ministry of Labor, who join the Central Romana induction program every year.

The process was led by Eladio Uribe, Corporate Director of Human Resources at Central Romana; Juan Estevez, Vice Minister of Social Security and Occupational Risks; Jonathan Ramos, Manager of Safety and Industrial Hygiene of Central Romana; Miguel Daas, Secretary General of the Workers Union of Central Romana; Mayrenis Corniel, Vice Minister of Labor; Santiago Nuesi, Child Labor Coordinator; Víctor Catedral, Manager of Quality and Certifications of Central Romana; Yisell Villar, Director of Equality and Non-Discrimination of the Ministry of Labor; and Juan Ramón Ventura, Director of Inspection.
