CAC and INAPA come together to solve the sewage problem in Villa Central

The Central Sugar Consortium (CAC) and the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewage (INAPA) joined forces to solve a sewage problem that has been going on for more than 20 years and directly affects the Juan Pablo Duarte, INVICEA and Olympic Village in the municipal district of Villa Central.

The problem is caused by the overflow of sewage discharged from these three sectors on land that is in front of the administrative offices of the sugar company.  If not for the solution proposed by these 2 institutions, the issue would also have affected the Avenida Joaquín Balaguer because sewage waters were about to overflow on to this important transit route.

In an inspection visit carried out in mid-April, Ing. Oscar de la Cruz, INAPA's Operations Manager, together with Juan Peña, CAC's General Services Coordinator, determined that the work would be completed by the end of August, which would put an end to a problem that has been dragging on for years.

The materials being used were jointly acquired by INAPA and the CAC, while the labor and technical management in charge of the public institution and the machinery was provided by the sugar company.

De La Cruz also stated that the water will be connected to pipes that will take it to the new INAPA treatment plant.
