CAEI signs agreement to promote recycling
The Sugar Consortium of Industrial Companies CAEI, signed an agreement with the National Association for Personal Improvement (ANSPAC), with the aim of promoting values of caring for the environment and recycling among children and teenage students who attend public schools in San Pedro de Macorís.
The "Recycling for a safe and healthy environment for the school and the community" project will be carried out thanks to a joint effort between CAEI’s Sustainability and Quality and Environment departments, in coordination with ANSPAC and the Felipe Vicini Perdomo and Hoyo del Toro Elementary schools. Talks and workshops will be held with children and teenagers for 14 weeks focusing on the values of solidarity, responsibility, respect, tolerance, and the importance of preserving our environment.
The agreement was signed by Josefina Dieguez, Director of Sustainability of CAEI and Gisel Velez, National Director of ANSPAC, at the Training Hall of the Felipe Vicini Perdomo Educational Center.
The activity was attended by Gabriel Argüello and Yadette Jiménez from CAEI's Quality and Environment Departments, Jacqueline Vázquez, Manager of Social Programs, and Dr. Antonio Custodio, Manager of the Health Program. Also attending were Wanda Lizardo, Primary Level Director, Carmen Ozuna, Secondary Level Director, and Gilberto Warner from the Felipe Vicini Perdomo School. Gisel Velez and Julia Martínez Padilla attended on behalf of ANSPAC.
“We are formally starting a program that has been designed for learning and strengthening the values of our children and teenagers. I encourage you to take advantage of the knowledge you will acquire and share it with your friends, siblings and parents. We are all responsible for taking care of our environment,” expressed Josefina Dieguez.
Gisel Velez pointed out that ANSPAC has been present for the past 48 years in Latin America and 22 in the Dominican Republic working with youth, women and companies. “I want you all to personally take advantage of this program. Now it is in your hands to build your future, which will depend on the values you uphold,” added Velez.
The event was also attended by Juana López, president of the Association of Parents of the School, as well as Reynaldo Eusebio, president of the Hoyo del Toro Neighborhood Council.
The Director of the Primary level of the Felipe Vicini Perdomo School, Wanda Lizardo highlighted the importance of the project and thanked CAEI for choosing to partner with the Educational Center to develop this type of training actions. "Thank you students for embracing this kind of learning in school and in your life."
Yadette Jiménez, Coordinator of the CAEI Integrated Management System, urged the children to continue learning to identify new uses for the waste generated, both at school and at home. “Just as we clean our house, we must clean our planet, giving a second chance to that waste that we generate, through recycling,” added Jiménez.
